DIY Fish Tank Secret Hiding Place

A secret storage under a fish tank? Brilliant idea!
Secret storage under a fish tank? Brilliant idea!

Some of the most used – and abused – secret storage areas are flower pots and rugs. While this may seem like a good idea at the time, it can actually be quite dangerous. If a burglar knows that you’re likely to hide your key in one of these places, they will often look there first. This can give them easy access to your home, and put your belongings at risk. Instead of hiding your spare key in an obvious location, try to think of a more creative and safe place to keep it.

It’s no secret that many criminals know where to look for valuable items in people’s homes. Unfortunately, this means that homeowners need to be extra vigilant about keeping their belongings safe. One way to do this is to invest in a home security system. A security system can help to deter criminals and make it more difficult for them to steal your belongings.

One of the keys to effective secret storage is its ability to blend in. It should be conspicuous and “innocent” enough so as not to stand out. A good way to ensure this is to use items that are common in everyday households. For example, a false bottom in a coffee can or a hollowed-out book can be excellent places to store secrets. Another important factor is to make sure the hiding place is not easily accessible to others. It is also important to have a backup plan in case the primary hiding place is discovered.

If you’re looking for a creative way to store your valuables, consider an under-the-fish tank hiding place. This hidden storage option is perfect for keeping your belongings safe from prying eyes. Plus, it’s a great way to add a bit of intrigue to your home décor.

What you’ll need to build this fish tank with a hiding place…

Materials:

  • Plywood (cut according to the desired size)
  • Sandpaper
  • Spray paint (colour of your choice)
  • Regular screws
  • Wood glue
  • Brad’s nails
  • Metal shelf pins
  • Neodymium magnet
  • wood filler

Tools:

  • Miter saw box
  • Hand saw
  • Drill
  • Sander
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Clamps
  • Hacksaw

Steps:

To start with this fish tank’s secret storage, you will need to create a box with a drawer. When cutting the sides of the drawer, make sure to cut them a little shorter in height than the sides of the base. This will ensure that the drawer won’t bind and will be able to slide in and out smoothly.

By cutting dadoes into the drawer front, you will be able to simplify the construction process and create a stronger joint. This will also allow you to avoid using nails or screws to attach the drawer front to the rest of the drawer box.

The box will serve as a platform for your fish tank. It should be large enough to accommodate the size of your tank, and it should be sturdy enough to support the weight of the water and fish.
