How to transform a vintage suitcase into a unique side table?
First, we need to clean up the old vintage suitcase and prepare it for painting. This will require some basic cleaning supplies and some elbow grease. Once the suitcase is clean, we can begin to prep it for painting.
We will be using General Finishes Java Gel stain instead of traditional paint to achieve a vintage look on suitcases using a sponge brush. This stain is easy to work with and provides excellent coverage. Plus, it won’t chip or peel as paint can. It is also very versatile- it can be used on a variety of different surfaces to create a unique look.
After staining the vintage suitcase, it is now time to attach the legs for your table. The legs should be level with each other and flush with the suitcase. You may need to adjust the length of the legs depending on the size of your suitcase. Once the legs are attached, your table is ready.
If you want your table to match the style of your vintage bag, you can opt to paint the legs of the table to match the bag’s colour. You can also add accessories to make the table look more authentic.
