You’ll need these materials for your cable spool bench project:

  • Wooden Spool
  • Pallet
  • Screws and Bolts
  • Paint

And these tools:

  • Jigsaw
  • Wrench
  • Angle Grinder
  • Welding Tool
  • Power Drill
  • Router
  • Circular Saw
  • Chisel and Hammer
  • Belt Sander
  • Paintbrush

Steps:

After securing a cable spool and a pallet, start by cutting the pallet in two parts. You will be using one part for the seats and the other for the backrest.

Next, use a wrench to disassemble the empty wooden cable spool. Be careful not to damage any of the parts as you do this. Once the spool is disassembled, you can begin to assemble your new cable spool bench.

Now that you have the two wooden flanges and the pallet seat and backrest, you can start assembling them together to complete your cable spool bench. First, take the seat and backrest and attach them to the flanges using screws and washers. Make sure the screws are long enough to go through the flanges and into the seat and backrest.

Next, take the remaining flange and attach it to the other side of the seat and backrest. You may need to use clamps to hold everything in place while you screw it together. Finally, flip the bench over and screw in the remaining screws to secure the bench.

If you’re working with flanges, you may need to cut the bottom part of the flange straight in order to prevent it from rolling around. This can be done easily with a cutting tool.

Before you paint or finish your cable spool bench, use a belt sander to sand down the rough edges. This will help create a smoother, more polished look.
