How to Make an Awesome Test Tube Spice Rack!

How to Make an Awesome Test Tube Spice Rack!

Test tubes are often used in scientific experiments, as they can be easily sealed and are transparent, making it easy to observe the contents. They can also be placed on a Bunsen burner to heat the contents.
Test tubes are usually made of Borosilicate glass, as this type of glass can withstand high temperatures and is chemically resistant. Plastic test tubes are also available, but these are not suitable for use with a Bunsen burner.

Who would have thought test tubes could be used for something other than science experiments? They can actually make great spice racks. If you’re short on space in your kitchen, test tubes are a great way to store spices while still keeping them within easy reach. Plus, they look pretty cool!

Enjoy cooking even more by turning your kitchen into a lab with this DIY test tube spice rack! Test tube spice racks can be bought from many stores, but why spend hundreds of dollars when you can DIY with less than one hundred dollars?

This spice rack project is quick, easy, and perfect for anyone with a few hours to spare. This is a great way to declutter your kitchen and make sure all your spices are within easy reach.

If you’re looking for a storage solution for your spices that are a bit more spacious than the average bottle, large test tubes are also available. You can usually fit the contents of a 35-spice bottle into a single test tube, making it a great way to save space in your kitchen. You’ll need these materials:

  • Test Tubes with Cork Stoppers
  • Rubber Bands or O-rings
  • Piece of wood
  • Sandpaper
  • Wood stain
  • Bonding Tape (for mounting)

And these tools:

  • Drill (with spade drill bit)
  • Hammer
  • Lighter
  • Paintbrush
  • Ruler and Pencil Marker

If you’re not sure how to get started with your test tube spice rack, here are a few tips:

Check the diameter of your test tubes. After measuring the diameter of the test tubes that you will be using, drill the piece of wood with the exact diameter of your test tubes to make sure your test tube fits snugly in the hole.

Make sure the length of your test tube is appropriate for the height of the rack. You don’t want your test tubes to be too short or too tall for the rack.

Decide how many test tubes you want to use for your spice rack. This will help you determine the spacing between the holes that you drill in the wood.

After drilling, you can sand the wood and and stain them. Next, choose the spices you want to store in your test tubes. Make sure they are in powder or flake form so they will fit easily into the tubes. Once you have your spices and rack, it’s time to start filling your tubes.

Start by adding a small amount of each spice to each tube. Then, label each tube with the name of the spice it contains. Finally, store your test tube spice rack in a cool, dry place.

Make sure to secure a rubber band or O-ring around your test tube before returning it to the spice rack. This will serve as a stopper of your test tube from your test tube spice rack, preventing the test tube from slipping all the way down.
