Slot-Together Pyramid Planter

If you’re looking for a great way to grow various plants in a small space, slot-together pyramid planters are a great option. These planters are easy to assemble and provide plenty of space for your plants to grow. Plus, they’re a great way to add a bit of height to your garden or yard.

Making slot-together pyramid planters from recycled pallet timbers is a cheap and easy way to add some greenery to your home. With just a few basic woodworking skills and an hour and a half, you can assemble these planters with ease.

Not only are these planters a great way to spruce up your home, but they also make for great gifts. So next time you’re looking for a unique and eco-friendly present, consider making a slot-together pyramid planter.

This simple yet clever design makes it easy for you to dismantle the slot-together pyramid planters. The pyramid shape is not only easy on the eyes, but also provides ample space for your plants to grow. The slotted design makes it easy to take apart and reassemble, which is great for when you need to change out your plants or clean the planters.

It allows you to move the slot-together pyramid planters to different locations to suit the season or the crop. And when not in use, it won’t take up a lot of storage space in your garden shed.

You’ll need these materials:

  • 3/4 MDF Board/Wood Planks
  • Sand Paper

And these tools:

  • Square
  • Pencil
  • Drill
  • Tenon Saw
  • Chisel

Steps to make slot-together pyramid planters

First, you need to cut 4 pieces of ¾ board that is 3 ½ x 43 inches as the base tier.

To create corner slip joints, first, measure and mark the depth of the joint on the wood. For the BASE tier, the slip joint should be 1 3/4 inches deep. For the other tiers, the slip joint should be 1 1/4 inches deep.

Measure 2 inches from the edge of each plank. Of course, the thickness of these slots should be ¾ where your planks can fit.

For the slots for the above tier, measure 8 inches from the inside edge of the first slot. See picture.

Remember that you should always measure inwards so that your dimensions are even – two inches from the edge of the plank for the bottom slot, and 8 inches from the inside edge of that bottom slot for the slip joint of the above tier. This is the only measurement you have to remember throughout the construction.

When determining the dimensions for your tiered planter, take into account the desired width of each shelf as well as the thickness of the material you’ll be using. Each tier has a distance of 8 inches from the inside edge of the previous tier.

Additionally, the slots for each shelf should be cut 2″ from the end of each plank. This will ensure that they are properly supported and won’t sag over time.

Next, use a saw to cut along the marked line. Finally, use a chisel to create a groove in the wood for the joint. Sand the planks to avoid splinters. Apply at least two coats of wood preservative.

Assemble the slot-together pyramid planters in their final place, making sure that all the pieces fit together snugly.

Once you have done this, fill the planter with the soil and plants of your choice. Water regularly and enjoy your new pyramid garden!
